CRN launches its first-ever live digital Channel Awards

On the same day we unveil the shortlist, CRN is delighted to officially reveal that the 2020 Channel Awards will be the first to be broadcast live on a digital platform

The Channel Awards are one of the highlights of the UK channel industry's calendar, honouring the achievements of those individuals and companies that have flourished most over the past 12 months.

In addition to the usual popular categories, the 2020 event will celebrate those heroes who have helped to sustain their businesses - and the country - through the Covid crisis.

The official title for the newly-formatted show is the CRN Channel Awards 2020: LiveCast.

As the name suggests, the show will be broadcast live from a top London studio on 12 November, hosted by a celebrity presenter.

Apart from announcing the winners, the show will feature a series of short, fun, specially-recorded documentaries, the fizziest contributions on social media, and possibly even live coverage from the best industry parties.

CRN is challenging the industry to get creative, find a way to collectively let its hair down and organise suitably-distanced team gatherings to mark awards night. Those who cannot get-together in person can enjoy the show from the comfort of home, or wherever they are at the time.

The teams who make the smartest use of Zoom and other networking technologies to connect their teams will have the chance to appear in the show, alongside those submitting the best and funniest social posts.

There will also be competitions and other opportunities to get involved in the show. More details to follow.

Those shortlisted for the awards will be offered the chance to purchase Gold and Silver access packages, providing them with the chance to maximise the marketing benefit of their nomination, as well as enjoying the show with colleagues on the night. Again, more details will follow.

Anyone who misses the awards on the 12 November will have the chance to enjoy it ‘on demand' via Channelweb from the following day.

CRN will provide full coverage of the awards as the excitement builds towards the big night, during the show itself, plus some reflections and highlights afterwards.

Incisive Media's head of channel Matt Dalton said: "After more than a quarter of century, the CRN Channel Awards is entering the post-Covid world with an exciting new format. This is designed to engage a larger - possibly international - audience, and to provide a more powerful showcase for the success of the winning entries and the brands of our sponsors. The countdown starts here."
