 (C) CONTEXT RetailWatch 1998.

 - The UK business channel has undergone a clear shift from the Pentium MMX
to the Pentium II processor. Market share of Pentium II processors rose
nearly 40 points between April and September 1998, while the Pentium MMX
dropped by almost the same figure.
 - Overall market share during the same period is equally divided, with
both processors holding a 45 per cent market share.
 - The cheaper Celeron chip has entered the market, but its impact has not
been as notable as in other European countries.

 GERMANY
 % MARKET SHARE APR-SEP
 PENTIUM II 50.1
 PENTIUM MMX 42.1
 PENTIUM PR0 2.1

 (C) CONTEXT RetailWatch 1998

is an increase of 50 points in the period April to September. The Pentium
MMX has, equally, lost market share as it is phased out.

market share of the Pentium MMX in the business channel. Mobile Pentium II
processors now hold a five per cent market share.

 % MARKET SHARE APR-SEP
 PENTIUM MMX 51.5

 PENTIUM 2.7
 OTHER 2.2
 (C) CONTEXT RetailWatch 1998

 - Motorola's G3 processor, used in Apple PCs, has witnessed a steady
increase in market share. This is indicative of Apple's success in France,
particularly with the launch of the iMac.
 - Intel's Celeron processor has also gained a strong position in the
French business channel. September figures show nearly 12 points of market
 share.
 - As with the rest of Europe, the Pentium II processor is the market
leader. However, the Pentium MMX still accounts for one third of
 processors sold.

 NETHERLANDS
 % MARKET SHARE APR-SEP
 PENTIUM MMX 49.3
 PENTIUM II 36
 CELERON 5
 K6 4
 G3 1.7
 OTHER 3.7
 (C) CONTEXT RetailWatch 1998

 - Intel's Pentium II processor has replaced the Pentium MMX as market
leader in the business channel, although the latter has nearly 50 per cent
market share for the total period April to September.
 - The Celeron chip has also made an impact on the business channel in the
Netherlands. Sales have steadily increased since its launch and it has
replaced the AMD K6 chip to take third position in the market.
