Everything in the Fast Trak garden lovely as prices cut

Fast Trak, which imports home and garden planning software from Books That Work in the US, is aiming to raise its profile among UK retailers despite some heavy competition from the likes of Europress.

"Our products always do well in reviews, but at u49.95 have been criticised for being expensive," said John Silvera, channel retail manager of Fast Trak. "Pricing has been revised and Garden Encyclopaedia 1 is now pitched at u19.95 RRP."

The six-title range of CDs uses a Doom-like 3D engine to generate accurate fly-through plans for garden, kitchen or the entire home. Some of the titles are hybrid and provide a free copy of Netscape 2.01 and a month's free Compuserve access so that customers can download extra floorplans and landscapes from the internet.

A freestanding unit is available to display the six sierra-box facings and Fast Trak has undertaken to fulfil all technical support for customers.

The titles are distributed through Gem and Ingram Micro currently and Fast Trak is in discussion with Centresoft. Up to 70 news-stand magazines, including relevant home furnishing and gardening titles, are committed to publishing reviews or other editorial, said Silvera.
