Bell to back BT storage push
Firms sign specialist distribution partnership
BT Indirect Channels (BTIC) has signed Bell Microproducts as its first specialist distribution partner.
Under the terms of the deal, Bell will target the UK SAN market, adding its knowledge of high-end storage to BTIC's IP networking and connectivity product set.
The combination of the two skillsets will help both firms aggressively target untapped markets, according to BTIC.
Jon Lane, director at BTIC, said: "Over the past decade BT has had to adapt to a host of new technologies and markets. We're looking for partners with specialist knowledge to help us push our products and services through the channel.
"BTIC has huge experience in the networking sector. Resellers will be able to sell a complete solution for off-site storage and backup, earning commissions on both the access technology and the storage hardware."
Ian Lockhart, enterprise sales manager at Bell, said: "Discussions with BTIC revealed a gap in the market. This allows us to offer VARs a competitive SAN package."
