Two appointments set to help Webroot flourish

Vendor signs Sphinx and Softek as UK distributors for its Spy Sweeper Enterprise product

Anti-spyware vendor Webroot has signed its first two UK distributors to help strengthen its share of the corporate market.

Sphinx and Softek have partnered with Webroot and will help it identify key resellers for the corporate anti-spyware marketplace to push its Spy Sweeper Enterprise product to SMEs and enterprise end-users.

Daniel Mothersdale, marketing director EMEA at Webroot, said: “Sphinx and Softek are two distributors that we recognised we needed to work with. They understand our products and the marketplace really well and were a perfect match for us to help accelerate our growth plans in the UK.”

Mothersdale said the vendor, which already works directly with several UK VARs, does not want to recruit huge numbers of resellers and cause market saturation, but is looking for a mix of security specialists, system integrators and networking infrastructure VARs.

“With the industry and how it is moving at the the moment, there is a lot of opportunity to work with partners that deal in other marketplaces,” he said.

He added that the vendor has no plans to sign further UK distribution partners for the time being.

Jason Thompson, managing director of Softek, said: “Softek has been supplying and supporting Spy Sweeper for a couple of years, and we look forward to assisting Webroot in developing a fully supported reseller channel in the UK.”

Mark Hatton, managing director of Sphinx, said: “We are very happy to be adding Webroot to our list of vendors. Webroot fits well with our business and we are looking forward to bringing its products to our customer base. Our experience and expertise combined with Webroot’s products are bound to be a winning combination.”
