PNY signs Microtronica
Card manufacturer appoints key distributor for nVidia Quadro range
PNY Technologies continues to ramp up its drive into the channel with the signing of new distribution partner Microtronica.
It will become one of the card manufacturer's key distributors for its nVidia Quadro range of cards for the professional graphics market. PNY is the sole manufacturer of nVidia's Quadro FX-based cards.
The alliance is timely, as last week PNY took the wraps off its new professional offerings: the Quadro FX 600 PCI and FX 700.
The FX 600 PCI is a 256MB memory card designed to run in multi-card systems and supporting very high resolutions of up to 3,840 x 2,400. The FX 700 is a mid-range card, with 128MB of memory and a silent cooling system.
The Microtronica tie-up comes hot on the heels of PNY's partnership with Computer 2000 last December.
This alliance owed as much to PNY's position as the sole supplier of Quadro FX cards as to its recent dominance of the UK retail consumer graphics card market.
Microtronica will supply PNY's high-end Quadro FX cards for those in the CAD and digital content creation sectors, the mid-range Quadro4 XGL cards and the Quadro4 NVS range of multi-display-capable cards.
"I am delighted to have signed this new partner to distribute our Quadro cards in the UK," said Vicky Burgoyne, general manager UK at PNY.
"It offers PNY the opportunity to work with one of the most highly regarded corporate distributors in the channel.
"Its experienced business sales teams will enable us to strengthen our market share in the corporate arena.
"We have every confidence in its ability to sell our entire nVidia Quadro range of solutions to its key customers. I expect it to be a significant and profitable relationship."
Les Billing, managing director of Microtronica, said: "The fact that we can supply the PNY Quadro range is fantastic news for customers who need high-resolution workstations and CAD/CAM designers who need sophisticated graphics solutions.
"No other distributor can provide greater customer support than Microtronica."
