Capita snares Synetrix

Acquisition for £75m will help expand its IT capabilities, Capita claims

IT services giant Capita has grabbed networking and managed services specialist Synetrix for £75m.

According to a statement the deal saw Capita buy the firm “from funds advised by Apax Partners and the management of Synetrix”.

Synetrix is forecasting an operating profit for the year ended 30 June 2010 of £10.9m on a turnover of £73.7m. It employs about 193 staff and has offices based in the Midlands and the South East.

The firm specialises in the design, development, integration and deployment of converged networks, hosted application solutions, managed security solutions and software platforms. Its clients include the London Grid for Learning and the East Midlands Broadband Consortium.

Paul Pindar, chief executive of Capita Group, said: “The acquisition of Synetrix will enhance and expand Capita’s current IT capabilities. With the acquisition of Synetrix we will gain a number of key new customers and our enlarged IT services business will benefit from new expertise in a range of areas that support existing capabilities.”
