Databarracks buys out COOLSPIRiT to fulfil cybersecurity vision

The new merger will aim to create a “data protection powerhouse”

London-based reseller Databarracks has acquired Derbyshire-based COOLSPIRiT in a move to bolster cloud data protection and cybersecurity services.

The new merger will aim to combine Databarracks expertise in business continuity with COOLSPIRiT’s experience in infrastructure to protect clients against various cybersecurity risks such as IT failures and ransomware.

The buyout also means that the MSP’s clients will now have access to a single dedicated point of contact for support, with monitoring and preventative measures.

Founded in 2003, Databarracks currently works with UK organisations across the public and private sector, such as the NHS, Siemens and Innovate UK.

COOLSPIRiT is Commvault’s largest solution provider partner in the UK.

James Watts, MD at Databarracks, added that the new acquisition will “add a fantastic solution provider and CASP capability.”

“In addition to COOLSPIRiT’s expertise in Commvault, it also offers many other technologies across data protection, infrastructure, storage and cyber and brings some fantastic partnerships.

“When COOLSPIRiT and Databarracks were founded, we were protecting organisations against data loss and downtime caused by IT failures, fires or floods.

“We’ve since entered the cyber-era.

“Organisations still face those threats, but now too, the existential threat of ransomware and cyber.”

Dammon Robertson, CEO of COOLSPIRiT added “We’re thrilled to be joining a team who like us, have spent over 20 years protecting organisations' data and continuity.

“I’ve known Databarracks co-founder Peter for a long time and Databarracks is an organisation that we know will be a great home and fit for our team and our customers.

“Together, we have the best team in the industry and a global delivery capability using the public cloud.”

This is Databarrack’s second acquisiton this year, following the buyout of PlanB Consulting in May, in a move to enhance the company’s operational resilience and cyber continuity consulting practice.
