Exertis splits out business and consumer divisions, promotes Brothwell and Sutherland

The company launches business and consumer divisions to be “more agile and responsive to the market”

Lancashire-based distie Exertis has announced a strategic shift on specific markets and channels to leverage its expertise in high-growth sectors.

The goal is to offer more tailored solutions to better support customers’ businesses.

To reach its goals, the distributor has launched two new divisions, business and consumer.

The business division will focus on high-growth areas such as AV, components, IT solutions, mobile and print.

With the consumer division, the company will continue to target the retail market, while making targeted improvements to elevate its service.

As part of the reorganisation, Exertis has appointed Jonathan Sutherland as MD of Exertis Consumer, Jamie Brothwell as MD of Exertis Business. The duo were formerly sales director and chief sales and commercial officer, respectively.

Paul Jacobs has been made trading director, and Lisa Bird takes on the role of sales operations and 3PL director.

They will all report to Phill Turner, chief commercial officer of the company.

“These changes are designed to make us more agile and responsive to the market, while fully leveraging our specialist knowledge and optimised services,” said Tim Griffin, CEO of Exertis.

He was appointed CEO of Exertis in February 2023, in a mission to lead a development plan for the business in the UK to drive growth, innovation and market leadership.

The reorg comes at a time of opportunity for the distributor, as Griffin shared with CRN in July his hope for an uptick in both enterprise customer spend and indeed, consumer spend.”

He also told CRN he had “aspirations to have more customers buying more products, more often, for more.”

"That's just really enabling our resellers and retailers to be profitable and sustainable and for us to be likewise."

“We’re thrilled that our structural changes enable our vendors to maximise dedicated breadth play through our general sales team, as well as the specialist expertise which we are perfectly positioned to provide; maximising their brand, improving co-ordination and increasing targeted go-to-market strategies,” said Turner.
