Cybersecurity vendor Logpoint has acquired fellow Danish firm Muninn for its AI-driven network detection & response (NDR) skills.

Founded in 2016 by engineers and computer scientists from MIT university and headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark, Muninn’s solutions “AI detect and AI prevent”, providing organisations enhanced visibility into their networks, faster threat detection, and defence against both known and unknown cybercriminal tactics.

The addition of Muninn bolsters Logpoint’s SIEM-based cyber defence platform with AI-driven NDR to give MSSPs a multi-layered approach to cybersecurity to detect and respond effectively to evolving threats.

The deal also marks Logpoint’s next step on the way to becoming a European cybersecurity powerhouse, the vendor claims.

According to Logpoint CEO Mikkel Drucker, who joined the company in May, geopolitical unrest, a shortage of cybersecurity talent, and the commoditisation of malware have made the cybersecurity landscape more complex.

“Together [with Muninn] we add more value to our customers and MSSP partners by drastically improving their chances of preventing cyberattacks through the beneficial combination of AI-driven NDR, SIEM, and automation,” said Drucker.

“We accelerate the innovation of AI-enabled products to advance security posture and minimise cyber risk, and we unite complementary competencies from our respective teams.”

Logpoint has established a labs team spearheaded by CTO Christian Have to drive security research and AI innovation projects to make it easier for organisations and MSSPs to navigate cyber threats and risks.

Muninn’s AI professionals and technologies will enrich the pursuits of the labs. The entire Muninn team, including CEO and Founder Andreas Wehowsky, is set to join Logpoint.

“We’re excited to join Logpoint and increase our ability to help mid-sized organisations become more resilient,” said Wehowsky.

“Many companies face challenges with limited cybersecurity staff, making it hard to meet security needs and protect their business. By teaming up with Logpoint, we can boost our impact and make it easier for security teams to defend against cyberattacks, allowing organisations to focus on what really matters. Ultimately, that’s what’s needed to protect the vital digital services and infrastructure we all depend on."
