London-based technology services incubator UBDS Group has acquired 3B Data Security to enhance its cyber offering.

The newly acquired cybersecurity MSP will remain autonomous and keep its brand identity intact, as well as its 23 employees, including the management team.

Cambridge-based 3B Data Security provides cybersecurity services, including digital forensic incident response, security training, information security consulting, and penetration testing.

The firm is one of only a handful of UK businesses to hold accreditations such as the National Cyber Security Centre CIR Level 2 Incident Response Provider and PCI Security Standards Council PCI Forensic Investigator & Qualified Security Assessor Company.

This buyout will allow UBDS to further strengthen its service offering, already enhanced by its partnership with data and AI company Databricks in February.

“We aim to work with like-minded people who share our vision and ambition. We recognise these attributes in the team at 3B Data Security, and we want to support them with our Group capabilities while enhancing our cyber offering to better serve clients across our wider business,” said Diptesh Patel, CEO of UBDS Group.

Benn Morris, CEO of 3B Data Security added: “We share a similar mindset and we both recognise the growth potential for our businesses while understanding that this partnership is primarily about enabling our teams to grow and develop, all while actively preventing security breaches and protecting our clients."

Morris added that the expertise of both businesses will help 3B Data Security stand out in an already crowded cyber market.

The business becomes the third owned by UBDS Group, joining UBDS Digital and Rayo.

The 3B Data Security’s team will also add its skillset to UBDS’ security operations centre (SOC) in Manchester.

The centre already provides managed detection and response, threat prevention, and threat intelligence.

According to Patel, the SOC is integral to the company and its cybersecurity strategy.

“This service complements the combined UBDS Group and 3B Data Security offerings and allows us to provide comprehensive end-to-end security solutions, ensuring our clients are fully protected against emerging threats,” he said.
