Westcon-Comstor has signed an agreement to become an authorised AWS distributor, in a move to develop end-user adoption of the AWS portfolio in the SMB and public sector domains.

The distribution agreement will cover 33 countries, including all members of the European economic area (EEA), Switzerland, the UK and Ireland.

It will also span some major markets such as Benelux, France, Germany, Italy, the Nordics, and Spain.

The strategic expansion is designed to give partners access to the AWS portfolio of cloud products and solutions.

“The cloud technology landscape continues to evolve rapidly and, over the last 18 months, we’ve been developing a comprehensive AWS strategy in Europe, acquiring specialist AWS consultancy Rebura and launching our AWS Marketplace programme,” David Grant, CEO Westcon-Comstor International, tells CRN.

“Our appointment as an authorised AWS distributor across Europe builds on our successful APAC business, where we are also an AWS distributor.”

Westcon-Comstor will attempt to use its cloud capabilities to support firms and help them reach their AWS targets, such as developing their AWS go-to-market strategy, accessing AWS funding programmes, and building technical expertise through enablement.

The distributor is to establish a dedicated AWS cloud business unit in Europe.

Westcon also intends to leverage the new services offered by Rebura, the AWS advanced service partner and solution provider it bought out back in January.

The acquired business will aim to offer a comprehensive suite of AWS services to their customers, covering migrations, modernisations and managed services.

“To support these core strategic initiatives, Aaron Rees will lead the AWS distribution business in Europe alongside his existing role as CEO of Rebura,” Grant adds.

“When we acquired Rebura, they were an advanced AWS partner and just last week they have been recognised as a Premier partner.

“Premier partner status is the highest level of certification and recognition within the AWS community and this really reflects the expertise of Aaron and his team.”

The company is building on its momentum after announcing strong revenue growth in H1 FY24.

This is also not the first time the technology distie has expanded its pan-European coverage this year, with for example its partnership with Vectra AI in May, or the strategic expansion agreements with Juniper Networks in June and Proofpoint in July.
