Swiss distributor ALSO has stepped into the US market to tackle the world’s largest economy.

The company wants to capitalise on the “90 million commercial unique users” in the country, its information and communication technology (ICT) total addressable market of $1.5tn (£1.2tn) per year, and what the firm describes as “a high level of cloud-application usage and IT-as-a-Service consumption, supported by a broad ecosystem of more than 100,000 IT channel partners.”

The new branch has started its operations with its first American customers.

This expansion will aim to boost the company’s mission to accelerate cloud migrations, strengthen cybersecurity and drive adoption of AI solutions.

To recreate its success in the UK, ALSO cloud US has launched in parallel with an unnamed PaaS partner in an effort to accelerate growth in the market and establish a basis for enhancements to come.

“In our expansion into the US market we are making additional footprint in our ecosystem,” said Jan Bogdanovich, MD of commercial business at ALSO.

“We look forward to blending our operational excellence with the US market potential.

“By drawing on data-driven insights and a customer-centred approach, we aim to deliver a reliable, high-quality experience that brings tangible value to the industry.”

This comes less than a year after the company strengthened its global position through its merger with Berkshire-based distie Westcoast in July 2024.

“The business combination should provide a wonderful opportunity to chase them down," said Alex Tatham, former UK MD of Westcoast, in a previous interview with CRN.

The technology provider also recently made changes to its global leadership team, with the appointment of Wolfgang Krainz as CEO in April 2024, replacing Gustavo Möller-Hergt after 12 years at the head of ALSO.
