Google Cloud welcomes Maureen Costello as vice president UKI and Sub-Saharan Africa
Costello to oversee company's sales strategy and operations across both regions
Google Cloud has named Maureen Costello as new vice president of UKI and Sub-Saharan Africa, as the company recently opened major relationships in both regions.
Costello joins over from Microsoft where she worked for four years, a period during which she held various leadership roles, such as corporate VP of industry solutions delivery (ISD).
But her IT journey started in 1995, when she joined Accenture as an accountant.
During her 25-year tenure at the global solution provider, she climbed the corporate ladder, stepping up as consultant before moving to a manager role and eventually becoming senior MD and resources lead for UKI, position she assumed for over 14 years.
“It’s an honour to join Google Cloud at such a pivotal time in its journey,” said Costello.
“We have a tremendous opportunity to help businesses across the UKI and Sub-Saharan Africa harness the full potential of the cloud, from AI and data analytics to cybersecurity and sustainability.
“I am eager to build on the strong foundation already in place."
She joins Google Cloud as the California-based company recently established significant relationships across EMEA.
In the UK, the vendor has made deals with organisations such as BT, John Lewis & Partners, Vodafone, and WPP.
In Africa, Google Cloud opened its first region in Johannesburg, South Africa, in January 2024, and has committed $1bn to support digital transformation initiatives across the continent.
"Maureen is a proven leader with an exceptional track record of driving growth and building high-performing teams," said Tara Brady, president EMEA at Google Cloud.
"Her deep industry expertise and understanding of the unique needs of customers will be invaluable as we continue to expand Google Cloud's presence in these key markets.
“We are thrilled to welcome her to the Google Cloud EMEA leadership team."
Costello replaces Helen Kelisky, who held the role of MD UK and Ireland at Google Cloud for nearly three years.
