Park Place Technologies names Justin Bingham new CISO
He brings 20 years of cybersecurity experience from both military and corporate environments
Datacentre and networking optimisation company Park Place Technologies has appointed IT vet Justin Bingham as CISO to oversee security strategy.
With both a military and a corporate background, Bingham brings 20 years of expertise in cybersecurity, threat intelligence, and security operations.
The new chief information security officer will be in charge of developing the firm’s comprehensive security strategies, managing risk, ensuring compliance, and leading incident response efforts.
Bingham’s journey in cybersecurity started in 2003, when he joined the US army as a human intelligence collector for its human intelligence (HUMINT) division.
He was responsible for gathering information through human sources, by focusing on interpersonal interactions to gain insights into adversaries’ plans, capabilities, and situations.
This experience shaped his understanding of human behaviour as well as his decision-making capabilities.
After his career in the military, he strengthened his knowledge in technology and cybersecurity by joining Eastern Michigan University, pursuing a degree in information assurance.
His experience, combined with his newly acquired education, allowed him to land various senior and leadership roles at international businesses such as General Electric, Team Cymru, General Motors, and more recently KLA.
During his time at KLA, he assumed the role of director of global cybersecurity operations, where he built a cybersecurity team, established a “purple team methodology” - a security methodology in which offensive security teams and cybersecurity operations centre teams partner to boost cyber capabilities -, and introduced AI-driven security platforms to improve incident response capabilities.
“I am honoured to join Park Place Technologies and look forward to contributing to its industry-leading security operations,” said Bingham.
“My goal is to build on the company’s strong foundation, leveraging advanced technologies to stay ahead of evolving threats and ensure trust with our customers.”
Stella May, chief customer experience officer at Park Place Technologies, added: “Justin’s extensive experience and innovative approach will strengthen our security framework and enhance our ability to protect both our company and our customers’ critical data.”
Bingham’s appointment follows the departure of former CISO John Parlee, who joined NBCUniversal as senior director of threat defence in September last year.
