SoftwareOne renews OCRE 2024 framework to deliver services to 35 European countries

The solution provider’s multi-cloud services and AI offering will be made available to more than 25,000 public sector organisations

Software and cloud solutions provider SoftwareOne has renewed its position as a multi- cloud and AI advisor on the new OCRE 2024 framework.

This will allow the channel firm to deliver its services across 35 countries in Europe, to more than 25,000 public sector organisations.

The OCRE framework is an EU-compliant cloud procurement framework, administered by GÉANT, the collaboration of European national research and education networks (NRENs).

SoftwareOne’s strong partnerships with hyperscalers such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, and other cloud and AI providers, as well as its expertise in the education and research sectors, have reportedly contributed to its position being renewed.

Already working with educational and research institutions, the new agreement, effective from February 2025 to 2030, expands the company’s services to the broader public sector, such as mission-critical government organisations.

The Swiss group’s mission will be to help streamline these businesses cloud adoption processes, provide access to high-end networks directly connected to hyperscaler datacentres, leverage sovereign cloud solutions to ensure data security and compliance, and optimise cloud spend.

Since its inception in 2017, SoftwareOne has consistently been selected as a service provider within GÉANT’s cloud frameworks.

“Cloud and AI consumption are already high in this sector with cloud computing sales estimated to rise to $2tn by the end of the decade,” said Florian Schultz, global public sector leader at SoftwareOne.

“As a leading global software and cloud solutions provider with deep industry knowledge and strong relationships with multi-cloud vendors, SoftwareOne is uniquely positioned to help these organisations with their cloud and AI technology choices.”

Monique Pellinkhof, senior procurement manager at GÉANT, added: “The GÉANT cloud frameworks have been a fundamental driving force for digital transformation and innovation in European research and education.

“Together with the innovative service providers selected in the framework, such as SoftwareOne, we anticipate greater pervasiveness of commercial cloud services alongside community cloud efforts, advancing global research, digitising education, and transforming institutional access to resources.”

This new announcement comes as the business has been through various changes in the last few months, with the appointment of Raphael Erb as CEO in October following a series of disappointing results, and the merger with Crayon last month.
