Essex-HQ MSP Utilize Plc has acquired Access Information Security Ltd (AIS) as part of its ongoing expansion strategy, with founder Warren Davies confirming the group remains firmly on the lookout for further acquisitions.

AIS, a cybersecurity specialist with a 22-year track record, brings a wealth of expertise to Utilize, along with key vendor certifications with SonicWall, Sophos, and Barracuda.

The deal strengthens Utilize’s existing security portfolio and takes its total revenue to around £25m.

Davies, who heads Utilize’s acquisition strategy, says the AIS deal is just the latest step in a broader plan.

“This is a great step forward for both AIS and Utilize,” he says.

“AIS has built a strong reputation for delivering exceptional customer service alongside market-leading security solutions.

“Their commitment to excellence aligns perfectly with our purpose of ‘making our clients’ technology journey exceptional.’”

While the acquisition of AIS came about through longstanding industry familiarity, managing director Guy Hocking stresses that Utilize is always actively looking for the right opportunities.

“We’re always looking,” Hocking confirms to CRN.

“It’s a mixture of knowing strong businesses in the industry and identifying the right moment to act.”

Hocking adds that acquisitions like AIS fit into a wider vision.

“AIS is a great example of a company that complements what we do. When the timing was right, we moved quickly to make it happen.”

He notes that security remains a priority for Utilize’s customers, making AIS an attractive acquisition. “Security is always top of mind,” he says.

“AIS strengthens our ability to deliver the highest quality security solutions to our clients.”

Hannah Kent of AIS describes joining Utilize as a natural next step for the business.

“We have always provided market-leading security solutions and customer service, and this collaboration will allow us to expand on and enhance our offerings to the next level,” she says.

While the focus is currently on integrating AIS, Utilize is not ruling out further deals in the near future.

“A larger acquisition towards the end of this year would be preferable, but these things don’t always follow a set timeline,” Hocking adds.

Hocking acknowledges the challenges of acquiring in the current market but remains bullish on Utilize’s ambitions.

“As a plc, we are highly accountable and take a measured, strategic approach,” Hocking concludes.
