Computerlinks aims to cause Ruckus with Ucopia
Distributor pairs up with guest access vendor
Computerlinks is billing its new vendor signing, guest access specialist Ucopia, as the perfect foil for partners of wireless LAN vendor Ruckus.
The distributor currently trades with about 100 Ruckus partners selling to the hospitality, education and corporate verticals and is pitching Ucopia as the perfect add-on.
The France-based vendor provides people with guest internet access to either corporate or – more commonly – public infrastructure.
David Caughtry, director of core technology at Computerlinks, claimed the market is being fuelled by the consumer device boom and compliance issues.
"We will be targeting our Ruckus partners with this. Where Ruckus has some guest access capabilities, Ucopia enhances that significantly," he explained.
Caughtry said Ucopia would gain most ground in public organisations such as libraries, airports and educational establishments.
"If you are providing access to the internet through your own infrastructure, you have to provide information on what that access is used for," he said. "Ucopia helps to address some of those compliance issues."
