C2000 becomes Tech Data at last
After 15 years of legal wrangling over name rights, Computer 2000 finally gets same name as parent
Computer 2000 has finally been allowed to change its name to that of its parent company Tech Data.
From today the familiar Computer 2000 or C2000 as it was widely known, will be no more, and the UK business will now operate under the same name as all the group's European and global operations.
Peter Hubbard, UK and Ireland managing director for Tech Data, said: "We are proud, after 15 years, to be trading under the same brand as our parent company and the rest of the Tech Data group.
"The rebrand is an important milestone in the history of the UK organisation. It lays the foundation for the forthcoming integration of SDG into the Tech Data UK business and the collection of specialists - Azlan, Datech, Maverick and Tech Data Mobile."
All signage, web sites, marketing collateral and stationery will be rebranded with the Tech Data logo as a result.
And the distribution giant stressed that the name change will be 'seamless' for its reseller base, with numbers staying the same, and a slight change to email addresses which will end in '@techdata.co.uk' from today onwards.
