Tech Data targets blue lights with Panasonic deal expansion

Tech Data eyes up emergency services as it takes on board more Panasonic Toughbook devices

Tech Data is targeting the emergency services as it expands its partnership with Panasonic on its Toughbook family of rugged mobile devices.

The distributor has recently extended its range of the vendor's notebooks, tablets and industrial handheld devices and is now looking to raise awareness of the Toughbook line among resellers.

The range is designed for use in challenging working conditions, making them suitable for use by the emergency and military services, according to the distie.

Stewart Hayward, marketing services director at Tech Data, said: "The Panasonic Toughbook range addresses a segment market that no other mobile vendor has really targeted and with our specific focus on the public sector, we see really good potential here with the blue-light services in particular.

"Panasonic offers excellent benefits and incentives and this is a great opportunity to take these ultra-durable systems out to a wider market," Hayward said.

News of the partnership comes after Tech Data was recently given the go-ahead to distribute the new range of Nokia B2B smartphones from Microsoft.

Last February Panasonic announced it was pushing more investment into its Toughbook Engage partner programme following increased demand for its products across Europe.
