Microsoft declares Windows 10 most popular Windows ever
Microsoft says three quarters of businesses are trying out Windows 10
Microsoft has claimed Windows 10 is the most popular version of the operating system yet - claiming 200 million devices are running the OS as of today.
In a blog post outlining the operating system's progress, Microsoft said it continues to be "excited and humbled" by the response and that it is making progress towards its goal of seeing more than one billion devices running Windows 10.
Microsoft claims that Windows 10 is on the fastest growth trajectory of any Windows product ever - outpacing Windows 7 by 140 per cent and Windows 8 by a massive 400 per cent.
Businesses are impressed with the OS too, the firm said, claiming that more than 76 per cent of its enterprise customers are in active pilots of Windows 10 and that more than 22 million devices are running Windows 10 in the enterprise and education spaces.
"One of the ways we measure our progress with Windows 10 is looking at how people are using Windows," said Yusuf Mehdi, Microsoft's head of marketing. "Recently we reached another milestone - people have spent over 11 billion hours on Windows 10 in December alone, spending more time on Windows than ever before."
Mehdi also announced that Microsoft's Surface Book would be available in certain regions - including the UK - for the first time tomorrow.
"Coming off a great holiday in the US and Canada, we are excited to bring Surface to more people in more markets," he added.
"Surface Book recently became available for pre-order in China and Hong Kong and today, I'm pleased to share that it will soon be available in a total of 10 new markets. Starting tomorrow, customers will be able to pre-order Surface Book in Austria, Australia, the UK, France, Germany, Switzerland, and New Zealand and it will be coming soon to Japan. We're also excited to bring Surface Pro to India in the coming weeks."
