CRN launches Women in Channel Awards
Inaugural WiC awards to take place in London on 18 October
More diverse organisations are known to make better decisions.
And yet most companies in our sector are still run and staffed largely by men. Scan the audience of any industry event, and - likewise - you will be greeted by a sea of male faces.
How best to break this status quo - at a time when the winds of change are blowing through wider society - will be a central theme of CRN's Women in Channel campaign, which culminates in our Women in Channel Awards on 18 October (see bottom for more details, and click here to meet the judges).
Firms can only do so much at an individual level.
It is only by coming together to raise awareness and share ideas on this important topic that the dial can be moved.
As the voice of the UK IT channel, CRN will act as a much-needed focal point for debate and research around the channel's painful gender diversity deficit and how best to tackle it.
Over the coming months, CRN will explore how best to tackle gender imbalance in the channel. We will be seeking opinions from all walks of the industry, and from both women and men, and the content we generate from this will be published on a dedicated Women in Channel hub that will launch towards the end of the month.
Women in Channel Awards
Wherever the fault lies, there is no shortage of talented female staff at vendors, distributors and resellers - from company founders down to high-performing new starters - capable of inspiring the next generation.
We feel that shouting about the accomplishments of women in the channel - not because they are women, but because their accomplishments are worth shouting about - can play an important role in tackling the issue.
This is why our Women in Channel debate will culminate in an awards ceremony on 18 October that will recognise the achievements of the entrepreneurs, leaders and exceptional employees who can act as role models for young females considering a career in this fast-paced, dynamic industry (meet the judges, here).
If this is you - or you know a woman who fits this description - take a look at our categories and get entering.
