Proact names new CEO

But storage integrator could wait until December before new chief executive takes over

Swedish telco boss Jonas Hasselberg has been appointed CEO of storage integrator Proact, almost four months after former chief executive Jason Clark stepped down.

Hasselberg is currently head of the consumer business at Swedish telco Telia, but Proact claims it could be as late as 1 December before Hasselberg starts his new role.

The storage integrator's vice president Peter Javestad will continue to act as CEO in the interim and will return to his original post after Hasselberg's appointment.

"Jonas combines proven leadership skills with a strong commercial ability and extensive technical knowledge which makes him very well suited to lead Proact. Proact's strategy is based on developing datacentre offerings with associated consulting and support services, in parallel with an increased focus on cloud services. Together with Jonas, we aim to make Proact even more attractive for customers, employees and shareholders," said Proact's chair Eva Elmstedt in a statement.

Hasselberg's appointment comes after a near four-month search for a replacement CEO at Proact after Jason Clark resigned at the beginning of February.

Clark led the Swedish integrator for more than two years after previously managing its UK business from 2011.

Proact saw revenue surge 12 per cent to SEK 3.26bn (£275m) in 2017, while EBITDA jumped by 15 per cent to SEK 220.2m. But the application of a new accounting standard for its first quarter of 2018 resulted in a 13 per cent drop in revenues to SEK 759m.

The firm also revealed that it spent SEK 2.6m in its search for a new chief executive between January and March.
