Dell consolidates sales organisation in wake of exec switch-up
Global sales boss Bill Scannell will head up new unit as COO departs
Dell is set to consolidate its sales units into one organisation, headed by global sales boss Bill Scannell.
The move will see the tech giant unite its partner and commercial sales unit with its enterprise and customer operations unit.
The news follows the unexpected departure of CCO Marius Haas, who will retire at the end of Dell's current fiscal year. He will be replaced in that position by vice chairman Jeff Clarke.
Scannell, president of enterprise sales and customer operations, will assume Haas' responsibilities, adding commercial and partner sales to his duties and becoming president of the newly combined sales organisation.
"Marius' contributions to Dell Technologies will far outlast the seven years he has been with the company. I thank him for his leadership and wish him all the best as he begins this next chapter," said Michael Dell, CEO and chairman.
"Given this change, we have the perfect opportunity to consolidate our sales organisations under the leadership of Bill Scannell.
"Bill is an outstanding leader, known for his customer-first mindset, who will ensure the best experience for our customers and team as we make this transition."
Haas will be replaced as CCO by current vice chairman of products and organisations Jeff Clarke.
As CCO, he will continue to be responsible for leading the vendor's Client Solutions Group, Infrastructure Solutions Group and global supply chain, as well as working with Pat Gelsinger, CEO of Dell subsidiary company VMware.
"Jeff has been a trusted adviser to me for more than 30 years," Dell added.
"He is well regarded by the industry, our board, key stakeholders and team members. The way he intersects our technology vision with operational excellence makes him the ideal COO and partner."
