Comms vendors Lifesize and Serenova merge

New company hopes to grab a bigger share of UCaaS market through acquisitions, product development and partnerships

Comms vendors Lifesize and Serenova will merge in order to grab a bigger share of the $60bn (£46bn) unified comms-as-a-service (UCaaS) market.

Lifesize specialises in video collaboration, while Serenova is a contact centre-as-a-service (CCaaS) provider. The newly combined business will serve over 10,000 customers worldwide.

The deal is sponsored by private equity firm Marlin Equity Partners which owns both companies and will play a key role in the merged company's strategy to create a unified comms portfolio through acquisition, partnerships and product development.

The move was made to address the convergence of UCaaS and CCaaS technologies.

Lifesize founder and CEO Craig Malloy will be the chief exec of the combined company and Serenova CEO John Lynch will assume the role of SVP of sales.

"Deeper customer and employee engagement through more vivid, direct communication is where the world's most successful businesses will distinguish themselves from the competition," stated Malloy.

"This merger joins two companies with vast market expertise and cutting-edge, cloud-based solutions. When combined into an integrated platform, we will be uniquely positioned to help organisations deliver communication experiences that far surpass the status quo, from the contact centre to the meeting room and beyond."

Serenova's Lynch added: "Lifesize has a long track record of innovation in business communications and a strong dedication to customer success.

"The synergies between Serenova and Lifesize solutions will allow us to revolutionise how businesses communicate with their customers and will deepen the value we can offer to our existing contact centre customers worldwide."
