HP amplifies sustainability with 'first of its kind' partner programme initiative
Vendor hopes 50 per cent of its global partners will join Amplify Impact by 2025
HP has made sustainability a "central component" to its new Amplify partner programme.
Amplify Impact is an extension of the new partner programme - announced in July - which comes into effect on 1 November and will assess and train partners on how they can drive sustainability in their own companies and with customers.
Chief commercial officer Christoph Schell said he expects half of its global partner base to join Amplify Impact by 2025.
"Partners are the lifeline of HP and globally represent close to 88 per cent of the revenue that we do," he told press in a media pre-briefing ahead of HP's Reinvent virtual partner event today.
"HP is now recognised as one of the most sustainable companies and brands in the world and we thought how could we use that in the broader partner ecosystem? How can we help them to drive sustainable impact and corporate values in everything that they do to get that message across to customers?"
As part of Amplify Impact, the vendor will provide tools, resources and a "first-of-its-kind" training programme to aid partners in focusing on the three pillars outlined in HP's own sustainable strategy - people, planet and community - with an emphasis on racial and gender diversity. Partners will be awarded via an annual certification and award programme.
It is the first industry programme that helps partners to assess and train themselves in a meaningful way around how they can have an impact on diversity in the IT channel ecosystem," Schell continued.
"We believe it is a bold change for our industry and a change that is overdue.
"We believe diversity is a deep cultural issue that we all have the responsibility to change in all the markets we do business in and we want partners to be a part of that movement."
Moving with the times
HP unveiled a raft of new products and solutions at Reinvent partner conference, held virtually this year as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
The vendor announced two new ProBook laptops that it claims are some of its lightest yet, as well as new E-Series touch and conferencing monitors that cater to remote workers and the emerging hybrid work environment.
HP is also streamlining its device-as-a-service (DaaS) model to make it more "simple and globally consistent". It now has four minimum components to it: hardware, repair, analytics and financing (which will be optional for channel sales).
Sumeer Chandra, global head of personal system services, said in the pre-briefing that the new DaaS model "provides creative flexibility and modularity to the overall DaaS solution."
It also unveiled its LaserJet Enterprsie400 Series, which it said is its smallest enterprise-class printer, as well as including toner to its Instant Ink subscription service.
"The key to innovation is understanding our customers-pushing technology to the limit and generating new imaginative solutions aimed at meeting the needs of customers in the new normal," stated Schell.
"The forces shaping our world and the way in which we do business today have dramatically shifted. Together with our partners, we must define a course for the future where we are defined by the outcomes we enable, not simply the products we sell."
