Microsoft 'fixes' disruption that caused global Teams and Office 365 outages
Vendor says mitigation steps helped resolve service interruption
Microsoft has resolved the cause of a worldwide interruption that affected access to its popular cloud services for several hours, including Office 365 and Teams.
The tech giant reported late Monday night that customers were having issues logging into their cloud services, including Outlook, Office 365 and Teams.
"We've fixed the service interruption that some customers may have experienced while performing authentication operations," a Microsoft spokesperson told CRN.
In a series of tweets, the company said that it had tried to fix the issue by "rolling back" a recent change that was the "source" of the problem, but that didn't work.
Several hours later it reported improvement in multiple services after "rerouting traffic to alternative infrastructure" while it continued to investigate the problem.
Services for customers were back up and running by around 5am this morning.
