Atos and OVHcloud form European cloud partnership

The French systems integrator and the continent’s sole hyperscaler promise ‘unparalleled levels of security’ in cloud deal

Atos and OVHcloud have today announced a parnerhsip that will see both go to market with a "100 per cent European market-leading multi-cloud solution".

The French systems integrator giant and Europe's sole hyperscaler say they have developed cloud transformation capabilities and services for enterprises and the public sector that comply with EU privacy regulations like GDPR.

Leveraging Atos OneCloud and OVHcloud's cloud solutions partners and customers will have access to a joint network of more than 130 datacentres to host dedicated, private environments.

Both companies are founding members of GAIA‑X, the European Association for Data and Cloud, which was founded last year.

The coalition's mandate is to create European cloud infrastructure and solutions to take on the hegemony of US and Chinese giants AWS, Azure, GCP and Alibaba Cloud.

Commenting on the go to market announcement today, he said data sovereignty and reversibility are at the heart of both companies' strategy.

"Atos expertise and technological excellence combined with OVHcloud's powerful ecosystem, sovereign infrastructures and cutting-edge multi-cloud products will bring a real added value to the market," he said.

"The acceleration of digital transformation across public and private sector industries has been significant, and we are delighted to collaborate with Atos to build common cloud solutions responding to their specific needs."

Atos Southern Europe CEO, Yannick Tricaud, added that the pair will continue to develop end-to-end, trusted and sovereign cloud infrastructure, applications and industry data spaces for European partners and customers.

"The partnership will offer organisations across Europe unparalleled levels of security when using cloud technologies," he said.

"Tomorrow's businesses will be cloud-first and data driven, magnifying the need for a trusted digital infrastructure and services that can be tailored to their specific requirements in terms of SLAs, security, sovereignty or scalability.

He added: "Our Atos OneCloud initiative was designed to create this unique bridge between digital cloud solutions and our customers' business needs."

Atos is one of France's largest partners €11.58bn in its FY 2019.

OVHcloud is a €600m hyperscaler, also headquartered in France, with operations across EMEA and in North America.
