Cancom UK&I officially rebrands to Telefónica Tech UK&I following €398m sale
The Spanish solution provider said it has already expanded its Belfast SOC to add new services
Telefónica Tech has announced that Cancom UK&I will start operating under the Telefónica Tech UK&I brand after being acquired at the end of July for €398m.
The new UK and Ireland branch of the Spain-based technology services company includes Cancom UK&I's more than 600 professionals in managed services in advanced IT, cyber security and multi-cloud solutions.
"With this move we corroborate Telefónica Tech's growth story and reinforce our capabilities in one of our key markets, the UK&I, with the aim of consolidating our leadership in cloud and digital services in Europe," said Telefónica Tech CEO, Jose Cerdán.
"Telefónica Tech UK&I is now a reality and is emerging as the perfect partner to accompany companies in their secure digital transformation."
Telefónica added that, as part of its commitment to cloud and security services it has already expanded its security operations centre (SOC) as part of an investment to increase its office space at Catalyst Inc in Belfast, by more than 5,000 sq ft in total.
It claims the expansion will enable the company to accommodate its growing workforce and deliver its specialist cyber security services to a wider range of customers in the UK and Ireland.
Moreover, building on the capabilities of Telefónica Tech's global SOC, it said the expanded Belfast operations centre will provide services such as monitoring and analysis of customers' IT systems to pre-empt and prevent security risks and attacks.
These services will be based in a new purpose-built facility and will also see the recruitment and training of additional cyber security personnel.
Martin Hess, CEO Telefónica Tech UK&I, adds: "This significant investment in our SOC including in capital infrastructure, in our technology, and in our people, is to ensure we have an offering that meets the requirements of organisations with complex and sophisticated cyber security needs, such as in the health sector where we have market-leading expertise".
