Air IT has announced James Steventon as its new CEO as the business looks to continue its growth and acquisition strategy.

The managed IT services provider appointed Steventon to lead the business following the departure of former boss John Whitty.

Air IT, which is backed by August Equity, provides a range of services and solutions across IT, communications, and cyber security.

Last September the company announced the double acquisition of Reading-based MFG UK Ltd and Uttoxeter-based INFINITY IT Solutions Limited, its seventh and eighth deals in less than a year.

The SMB-focused provider claimed in September that its headcount now stands at 270 following the acquisitions.

Air IT says that Steventon is joining the company "to take it to the next level of growth", having scaled several PE and VC-backed businesses.

Steventon said: "Air IT has proven that the right solutions and passionate support are more valuable to UK businesses than ever. I'm excited to be taking the business forward and continuing to build the team, expand our footprint and enhance our offering. I want Air IT to be the go-to partner for managed IT services in the UK for the SME community."

Ian Brown, Chairman of Air IT, added: "We're delighted that James has joined Air IT. He brings extensive leadership experience and a strong track record of growth and client-focused excellence in Private Equity-backed technology businesses like ours."
