Infinigate acquires Microsoft cloud distributor Vuzion
Deal is second UK acquisition for Infinigate in a matter of months after snapping up Nuvias in July
Infinigate has acquired UK-based Microsoft cloud distributor Vuzion in a deal which creates the "industry's first" value-added distributor which combines cybersecurity and cloud services.
Based in Hampshire in the UK, Vuzion is a Microsoft CSP indirect provider and cloud aggregator focusing on the SMB market.
The firm also partners with vendors including Mimecast and Acronis.
Ranked #22 in this year's distributor rankings by CRN, Vuzion - together with direct-selling parent company Cobweb - broke the £50m revenue barrier in its year ending 31 March 2022, according to numbers it shared with us.
Around 43 staff from Vuzion will join the distributor as part of the acquisition, Infinigate claims, with Vuzion's managing director Michael Frisby joining Infinigate as SVP of cloud services to drive Vuzion's growth within EMEA.
The cloud aggregator says it has achieved more than 30 per cent organic year-on-year growth for the past three years and has rapidly expanded its customer base.
Vuzion will remain "operationally independent" for the time being and will be "laser focused" on supporting partners and helping them grow, Infinigate claims.
The deal will enable Infinigate to tap into Vuzion's "wealth of experience" in helping both vendors and partners adapt to fully subscription-based models, Infinigate claims.
"Our acquisition of Vuzion is a strategic move that we've taken because cybersecurity and cloud are a natural fit. It enables us to ensure a more comprehensive security posture for the end customers especially in the SMB space. Infinigate will be the only VAD where resellers will find the expertise to transition customers to comprehensive secure cloud solutions," Infinigate Group CEO Klaus Schlichtherle said in a statement.
"The acquisition will accelerate digital transformation both for Infinigate and for those we serve and combined with our key recruitment and investments, it enables us to re-invent VAD for a digital world. In the coming quarter we will be investing in the core Vuzion business in the UK and will develop a joint approach across EMEA to secure the cloud and leverage Vuzion expertise and experience."
"We are excited to join Infinigate's innovative and dynamic team," added Frisby.
"Our shared people-focused approach and common values give us a strong foundation. Joining forces allows us to provide more expertise and services, which helps our mutual partners accelerate their growth and secure their customers' journey to the cloud."
It marks the second UK acquisition for Infinigate in less than two months.
The cybersecurity distributor took on investment from Bridgepoint in 2021 and went on to make a mammoth acquisition in July this year in the shape of Nuvias' Cyber Security Solutions and Secure Networking business.
The acquisition created a pan-European player with €1.4bn in revenues with customers in SMB, enterprise and service provider markets.
The Nuvias business significantly bolstered Infinigate's presence in the UK, France, Benelux and Nordic territories, it claimed.
Numerous UK distributors have sold up in recent years. Earlier this month Spinnakar was acquired by Wayside, while Cloud Distribution sold up to Nuvias in May 2021 and Ignition Technology was acquired by Exclusive Networks in July 2021.
This year has also seen UK player Nimans be acquired by AV distributor Midwich.
