TD SYNNEX sheds Tech Data brand in UK

The Tech Data brand has been ditched in the UK as part of a global rebranding exercise by US-based parent TD SYNNEX.

Tech Data and SYNNEX created the world's largest IT distributor when they closed their $7.2bn merger last September, but have only now rolled the TD SYNNEX brand to the UK.

The rebrand also applies to the wider European region, as well as Latin America and the Caribbean.

In Asia-Pacific, TD SYNNEX will continue to trade as Tech Data a TD SYNNEX Company, while its Japanese operations had already branded TD SYNNEX.

"This is a special moment of celebration as we launch the TD SYNNEX brand in Europe and LAC," said Rich Hume, CEO, TD SYNNEX (pictured). "In this new phase, we will double down on our commitment to delivering higher value to our ecosystem partners through our end-to-end technology portfolio and our comprehensive services offerings, all underpinned by the passion, commitment and deep knowledge of our 22,000+ co-workers around the world."

Tech Data and SYNNEX knocked Ingram Micro off its perch as the world's largest IT distributor when they joined forces last year, with Q3 revenues of $15.4bn giving it an annual runrate of above $60bn.

Ingram, which turned over $49.1bn in its fiscal 2021, last month submitted a filing to go public again.

This will be the second change of branded stationary required for the Tech Data UK team inside a decade following its rebrand from Computer 2000 in 2013 (a move that was held up by a 15-year wrangle over naming rights).
