TD SYNNEX goes 100 per cent renewable electricity in UK

All of TD SYNNEX's UK locations are now running on renewably sourced electricity, the British distributor said.

The announcement comes as TD SYNNEX's Bracknell offices confirmed it has now switched to a green energy tariff from National Grid.

TD SYNNEX UK was already getting 90 per cent of its power from renewable sources, with its warehouse facility at Magna Park, Lutterworth, and the office locations in Basingstoke and Warrington all using green energy.

Kevin Wragg, director of environment and quality compliance at TD SYNNEX commented: "We had set a target to get all our UK operations onto renewable electricity by the end of 2023 and we're pleased to have achieved that goal.

"It's vitally important that our industry continues to make progress in reducing its carbon impact and it is worth celebrating as every small step takes us a little bit closer to net zero."

Efficiency gains, especially at its main Basingstoke offices, have also seen TD SYNNEX reduce its energy consumption.

The distributor said its UK operation is on target to achieve its goal of achieving a 20 per cent reduction this year.

In Q1 2024, TD SYNNEX said it expects to have electric vehicle charging points at all four UK locations.

The company is working with its courier partners to reduce the carbon output of deliveries and is also supporting partners in their efforts to be more sustainable.

It offers a net zero carbon (NZC) consultancy service to partners and makes its experts available to speak at partner events. It has partnered with Treedom and Verra (offsetting), Egencia (travel) and Climate Partners (carbon reduction).

TD SYNNEX's green drive

Globally, the distribution giant has signed the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi) business ambition pledge, which encourages ambitious climate action and emissions reduction targets.

The British distie also recently revealed an updated strategy to shift focus of its services business unit on driving the circular economy with partners to achieve more sustainable choices, the distribution giant has announced.
