TD SYNNEX to stock and distribute Cisco-certified remanufactured products
Distributor hopes to help partners adopt affordable circular IT procurement
TD SYNNEX will be stocking Cisco Refresh certified remanufactured equipment across Europe in a push to support partners to adopt affordable circular IT procurement.
The distributor is now holding Cisco Refresh stock directly in its logistics facilities ready to ship to partners.
This is hoped to enable faster delivery times and increased transparency in product availability, helping partners to incorporate a greater range of environmentally sustainable solutions in their Cisco offerings to the market.
This development comes at a time of rapid acceleration in demand for environmental sustainability in IT procurement.
As referenced in the latest TD SYNNEX Directions of Technology Report, 69 per cent of channel players are now seeing ESG considerations influencing IT procurement and 51 per cent say they offer recycling or circular economy take-back schemes, with 33 per cent of partners planning to invest in product lifecycle management in the next twelve months.
In addition, partners report that many public sector projects require a per centage of IT products to be procured from the circular economy, driving further demand for remanufactured or recycled products.
Loïc d'Ursel, European lead enterprise networking, Meraki, IoT, sustainability for the Cisco business unit at TD SYNNEX told CRN: "Cisco has made the push towards sustainability a priority globally and we have had a full sustainability team in place for some time.
"In February 2023, we hired Vasco Ferreira as our dedicated head on Cisco sustainability and have subsequently worked with Cisco on a new and exclusive contract that enables us to stock Cisco Refresh products.
"This comes at the right time, as many pan-European institutions are now mandating private and public sectors to be more sustainable."
d'Ursel also explained the distie is sending its Refresh stock availability to partners and making the products available on its InTouch e-commerce platform.
He explained: "We will also be running marketing campaigns and working closely with partners that have previously purchased Refresh options."
Sam Paris, VP security and networking at TD SYNNEX also added: "Having Cisco Refresh stock on the shelf means that we can serve our partners with agility and transparency, and, while the products may be pre-owned, there is no compromise on quality, performance or upgrade status.
"Thanks to Cisco's rigorous certification process and standards, these products really are as good as new.
"This is a great example of how we at TD SYNNEX bring our corporate commitment to circular economy principles to life, helping our industry partners to minimize waste and win in the market with a robust offering of remanufactured products across a broad selection of categories," added Paris.
Cisco Refresh remanufactured products are available across an extensive range of product types including collaboration devices, routers, switches, security solution and transceiver modules.
The programme has existed for quite some time already, explained d'Ursel, but all products came from Cisco central stock and availability was not guaranteed.
"As we are now holding stock of Refresh products, it's much easier for us to market and supply products. This aligns with the positive position we're taking with Cisco on sustainability.
"Indeed, TD SYNNEX has enabled over 100 partners to achieved Cisco Environmental Sustainability Specialisation over the in past year.
The accreditation also helps partners to advance toward Cisco Select Partner status.
The news also comes as the distributor continues to deepen its commitment to promote sustainability in the channel.
In December 2023, it launched a sustainability course for channel partners to enable resellers to assess scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions and set out a plan to take their own business towards net zero carbon.
Earlier this year, TD SYNNEX also acquired Cokeva, Inc., an industry specialist in the repair, test and refurbishment of IT equipment in an effort to built its technology lifecycle service provider side of the business, Shyft.
