Air IT has made another acquisition in Scottish Microsoft cloud and communications specialist, SoConnect.

The buyout brings AirIT's total staff count to 570 and brings a set of complementary capabilities – in Air IT's case this means improved capabilities around Microsoft cloud, while for SoConnect, it brings improved skills around cyber.

"SoConnect are a fantastic addition to Air IT and we're delighted to have them on board. With a mission to make IT feel effortless, SoConnect is a fantastic cultural fit with an accomplished team that share our values and commitment to delivering an exceptional customer experience.

"With a complementary skillset and extensive experience of Microsoft cloud and communication solutions, we're very much looking forward to having them on board," commented Air IT CEO, James Steventon.

"We are thrilled to embark on this new chapter as part of Air IT, a move that marks a significant milestone in our journey. This acquisition not only expands our horizons but also enriches our capabilities, and opens up exciting opportunities for growth and innovation.

"We look forward to working with our new colleagues and continuing to deliver unrivalled managed services to our valued clients," said Gordon Sayers, CEO of SoConnect.

Campbell Fraser, who founded SoConnect in 2011, will be stepping down from the Executive Chair role but will continue to work with Sayers and the Air IT team to further grow the business in Scotland, the two companies announced in a press release.

This is Air IT's second buyout in 2024, after it bought out SCS Technologies in March.

It marks the 13th takeover in total for the acquisitive MSP, which is pursuing an aggressive buy-and-build strategy under PE backer August Equity.
