In a move that marks its entry into the Australia and New Zealand market, Infinigate has announced an investment in Wavelink, an IT distributor specialising in cybersecurity and mobility solutions.

The deal, which took effect on July 4, 2024, sees Infinigate acquiring a majority stake in the Melbourne-based company.

Wavelink, founded in 1998, has been experiencing double-digit growth over the past five years. The company will continue to operate autonomously under its existing management team, led by CEO Ilan Rubin, who will now report to Mahmoud Nimer, Infinigate's president for MEA and APAC.

Klaus Schlichtherle, CEO of the Infinigate Group, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating: "The strategic investment in Wavelink opens up a door into a new important market for Infinigate, beyond EMEA, in line with our global expansion plan."

For Wavelink, this investment presents an opportunity to accelerate its growth trajectory.

Ilan Rubin commented: "Infinigate's investment enables us to accelerate Wavelink's growth trajectory. It is the result of careful and considered joint planning by Infinigate and Wavelink over a two-year period."

The collaboration is expected to benefit both companies, with Wavelink gaining access to Infinigate's financial resources, programmes, and systems, while Infinigate expands its geographical reach.

Wavelink will continue to operate under its own brand, adding the tagline "an Infinigate Group company."

This strategic move aligns with Infinigate's global expansion plans. The group, which specialises in cybersecurity, cloud, and network infrastructure, reported revenues of €2.3bn in the 2023-2024 financial year and currently operates in over 100 countries.

The partnership is poised to strengthen both companies' positions in the cybersecurity and IT distribution sectors, particularly in the ANZ region, where Wavelink plans to expand into the New Zealand market with Infinigate's support.
