Mimecast acquires Code42 to bolster insider threat protection capabilities

In a move to enhance its human risk management platform, Mimecast announced today the acquisition of Code42.

This acquisition builds upon the partnership between the two companies established earlier this year.

While the financial details of the deal remain undisclosed, the move signals Mimecast's commitment to strengthening its position in the cybersecurity market.

Marc van Zadelhoff, CEO of Mimecast, emphasised the company's unique approach to security, stating: "Mimecast's platform focuses on the critical moment of risk - a person opening their laptop."

He added that the integration of Code42's solutions would broaden and deepen Mimecast's security and human risk management capabilities.

Code42's cloud-native technology offers advanced insider threat and data leak protection, aimed at enabling companies to safeguard critical data from various risks, including exposure, loss, and theft.

The acquisition is expected to provide Mimecast's clients with enhanced visibility and strategic insights across their expanding digital environments.

Joe Payne, president and CEO of Code42, highlighted the importance of this merger in today's collaborative work environment.

"Protecting organisations from data exfiltration requires enhanced visibility into risky user activities across email, collaboration platforms, web, cloud, and more," Payne explained.

This acquisition follows Mimecast's recent unveiling of its connected human risk management platform and the Mimecast Engage human risk awareness & training offering, which resulted from the integration of Elevate Security, acquired in January 2024.

Mimecast has assured that it will continue to support existing Code42 customers.

Additionally, Code42's Incydr product is now available to Mimecast customers, with plans to fully integrate these capabilities into the Mimecast platform in the coming months.
