Alex Tatham is leaving Westcoast
His decision comes after Westcoast’s monumental merger with ALSO Group
Alex Tatham has announced he is leaving Westcoast after more than 15 years with the business.
News of his departure follows yesterday's huge announcement that Westcoast UK, Ireland and France is to be acquired by ALSO Group to form a titan European IT distributor.
Tatham declared he is leaving the West Berkshire-based distributor on LinkedIn in a post tinged with feelings of "pride, satisfaction and plenty of sadness".
"I can take enormous satisfaction in my part in establishing Westcoast as the UK's leading IT distribution business and one that its' employees (past & present); the whole IT channel; the Thames Valley region and most importantly its wonderful owner – Joe Hemani can be proud of," he wrote.
"A new era for Westcoast and one for me too. I look forward to re-appearing in the IT industry again soon. Many thanks for all my colleagues, suppliers, customers and friends for making Westcoast, and my time there, such a special one."
Tatham first joined Westcoast in 2009 as its sales & marketing director.
After five years, he then landed the top job of managing director where he spent a total nine and a half years.
Tatham served a short time at services business NSC Global as global client & marketing director from September 2022.
He made a surprise return to Westcoast in June last year in a "refreshing type of role" as its executive director until now.
Tatham is a well-known figure and a veteran within the UK IT channel, unafraid of getting candid on topics such as M&A in distribution, how the role of distributors has evolved, vendor frustrations, and the future of the PC market.
After teasing his reappearance in the IT industry again soon, we wait in anticipation until Tatham announces his next move.
