IBM has appointed Andrew Gill as VP of ecosystem for the UK and Ireland.

This marks a return to Big Blue for the channel vet, having spent over three years as channel director at Nutanix and more than 26 years in various senior sales and leadership roles at IBM.

His background encompasses systems and services, along with heading up channel sales for the UK and Ireland.

In his new role, Gill will focus on advancing IBM's mission to assist partners in their growth, help clients transform their businesses with hybrid cloud and AI, and enhance partners' technical expertise, the vendor said.

He will oversee the IBM Partner Plus programme in the UK and Ireland, a comprehensive ecosystem that integrates all partner types—whether they sell, build, or service IBM technology.

A significant part of his focus will be on enabling partners and clients to leverage IBM's generative AI platform, watsonx.

"Andrew is among the most experienced channel leaders in this market, with deep expertise across hybrid cloud and AI, and we are very excited that he has returned to IBM to drive our ecosystem growth, said Eliot Frederiksen, general manager for technology at IBM UK & Ireland.

"IBM is committed and significantly investing to help our partners meet growing demand from clients for hybrid cloud and AI solutions through our watsonx AI platform, and there is no better person to lead this effort than Andrew."

"IBM is incredibly well-positioned to capture the surging enterprise demand for hybrid cloud and AI technologies in the UK & Ireland market," said Gill on his own appointment.

"The ecosystem is critical to IBM's future success, and I am fully committed to building on the momentum of IBM's Partner Plus Program to deliver exceptional client value, business outcomes, and mutual success with our partners."
