What's the most surprising lesson 2024 has taught you so far?

In 2024, the most important lesson I’ve learned is that adaptability is crucial for thriving in a constantly changing world. This year, we've seen significant geopolitical shifts, economic fluctuations, and rapid technological advancements. These changes have shown us that being flexible and proactive is essential. By continuously learning and quickly adjusting our strategies, we can stay relevant and meet the evolving needs of our environment.

If you could have dinner with any historical figure, who would it be and why?

I think I would choose Queen Victoria. She is one of history’s most iconic monarchs, and she reigned for more than 63 years. During that time, the British Empire expanded across the globe, the arts and literature flourished with Charles Dickens and the Bronte Sisters, and steamships and railways were built. I imagine her to be totally captivating with endless stories.

Which tech or channel figurehead has impressed you the most this year, and why?

In 2024, one of the most influential tech figureheads is Satya Nadella, the CEO of Microsoft. Under his leadership, Microsoft has been pushing the boundaries of artificial intelligence, making it more accessible to businesses around the world. Satya's vision and dedication have driven significant advancements in AI, cloud computing, and other technologies, shaping the future of how we interact with and utilize technology in our daily lives.

What technology trend do you think is being overhyped, and why?

For me, I think it’s generative AI. Whilst we can see impressive capabilities in creating content, there are significant limitations and challenges that are often overlooked. I think we are underestimating the change that is required within business, to fully adopt generative AI as a way of working.

We can all learn how to write good prompts but that’s just the start. It will be some time before we are all ready, even though the pace of change is fast. Using it to its full potential is a way off.

If you were stranded on a deserted island but could have one piece of tech with you, what would it be?

My speaker and my playlists

What's your go-to productivity hack that keeps you on track during a busy day?

To do lists! I always need a list. I’ve have recently learned how to use co-pilot to help me prioritise said list – that is a bonus!

If you had the time to learn one new skill, what would it be?

I would learn to play golf. My boys both play now, and I have realised that it’s a great way to spend time with them as they become teenagers, away from phones and outside in the fresh air.
