VAR Fusion Consulting takes on the Big Four: 'We want to offer enterprise-type services to the SME market where MSPs have not been well serviced before'
CRN spoke to director Adam Maurice today to ask him how he plans to change the professional services market and 'disrupt' the hegemony of PwC, Deloitte, EY and KPMG
London-based professional services firm Fusion Consulting Group has landed a funding package from specialist funder SME Capital.
The SME-focused group said it will use the funds to "disrupt the professional services sector" and take on the likes of the Big Four consulting firms - PwC, Deloitte, EY and KPMG.
Speaking with CRN, Adam Maurice (pictured), director of Fusion gave the lowdown on the company's mission and how it will execute this plan of action.
"We set up Fusion to offer a wide range of services to entrepreneurs and SMEs," Maurice said.
Fusion's portfolio of services includes digital marketing, consulting, legal, financial accountancy and tax.
"Where we're a bit different is we use a lot of technologies to implement a lot of those services and that's one of the things that we're going to be using the funding for."
‘Managed services have shifted considerably over the last seven years'
Maurice said Fusion will "disrupt" the professional services market by addressing the previously isolated way it has been served.
"Advisory has been delivered in a very siloed way in the past.
"An entrepreneur or a business would have their accounting or tax advisor, they'd have their digital marketing and business advisor or a lawyer.
"What we want to try and do is bring all of those things all under one roof with what we call 360 degree advisory."
Maurice added he felt the managed services market has shifted considerably over the last seven years and expects to see more MSPs switching focus to the managed security space.
"The MSP market is a very acquisitive space, even more so now. So how does a smallish MSP ready themselves for an exit?
"That's something we've helped a number of MSPs with and that would be something they would go to a larger firm such as KPMG for.
"So we want to bring those types of services expertise to the lower mid market and the SME space.
"And I think that is something the MSP space, certainly in that area, the lower mid market and SME, have not been well serviced."
Fusion Consulting in 2023
Looking ahead to the new year with the back up of new funding, Maurice outlined Fusion's main focus for 2023.
"A top priority for us is we've got a number of key hires that we've been working on.
"We obviously want to do a number of acquisitions and we're committed to do that in the first half of 2023.
"And we want to make a big song and dance out there. We want to make sure that people know what we're good at, and that we can deliver."
